For the first time ever, student equestrians can pursue their passion for riding on the new American Heritage School-sponsored Equestrian Team.
Open to AHS students in grades 7-12, students do not need to own a horse to come out and ride on the team. All riding lessons will take place with expert horse trainer Morgan Conroy at Spectrum Show Stables - 13211 Mustang Trail in Southwest Ranches. The AHS Equestrian Team will train all school year from September 12, 2015 through June 6, 2016, and they will attend three Heritage Horse Shows at Volunteer Park at different times throughout the year.
“The main goals for the team are to provide students with organized and competitive riding opportunities, and to develop team and individual sportsmanship,” said Ashley Gregory, AHS sophomore, President and Founder of the AHS Equestrian Team. Ashley has been riding since she was five and showing horses since she was six years old; her bedroom walls are filled with medals and trophies from the hundreds of horse shows she has attended over the past eight years.
“We have a great year planned, and we are so grateful to Dr. Laurie, Mrs. Blum, and Mrs. Schiller, our team adviser, for supporting our sport and providing us with opportunities to further our education in the equine world,” Ashley said.
